2. Support partner countries in the area of climate and the environment
-
Excerpt from government statement
-
Climate change is threatening the livelihoods of people around the world on a massive scale, and will force millions of people to flee their homes because of environmental disasters. However, the effects of the climate crisis threaten structurally weak countries in particular. These countries have less developed civil protection mechanisms and infrastructures, and are therefore more vulnerable to the effects of climate change. The Government wishes to intensify cooperation with Luxembourg’s partner countries in the field of climate and environmental protection. The aim is to provide practical assistance to help them develop their resilience in the face of growing environmental risks.

The fact that climate finance has been increased is positive, as is the recognition of the importance of climate adaptation. However, it is unclear how much money has been or is to be invested in adaptation measures.
