• 19. Promote ‘self-consumption’
  • Excerpt from government statement

  • Self-consumption and electricity storage

The Government will give priority to decentralised electricity production and consumption in order to contribute to grid stability. State aid will continue to be channelled in such a way as to encourage self-consumption of the energy produced, whether at individual, collective or company level.

Luxembourg will also work towards the development of a smart grid, which will enable more efficient management of the electricity network on the basis of a real-time flow of information.

  • Status of implementation/Meco commentary Stand der Umsetzung/Meco-Kommentar

  • Self-consumption has gained greater importance in state support programmes, particularly regarding the pre-financing of photovoltaic systems, as well as within the Klimabonus Wunnen – so this does represent progress. Further initiatives in line with the smart grid, etc., are reportedly under discussion, but no concrete implementation steps are known to date.
