Fundamentally, the Naturpakt is a positive instrument for promoting nature conservation, which should be communicated much more widely to the general public – communication in this regard remains insufficient. As for the further development of the instrument: only a quantitative, and very limited qualitative, evaluation of Naturpakt 1.0 was carried out. As a result, the opportunity to incorporate lessons learned from recent years into Naturpakt 2.0 was missed. For example, coherence between the Naturpakt criteria and the National Nature Protection Plan (PNPN3) is not always ensured.
