The government will be stepping up its support for wastewater treatment associations to adapt treatment plants to the increase in the number of inhabitants. As part of this, the main biological treatment plants will also be equipped with a fourth treatment stage to filter out micropollutants such as microplastics, medicines and plant protection products. The Government will adapt subsidies for the construction and modernisation of wastewater treatment plants.

Drinking water treatment infrastructures will also continue to be developed and adapted to the country’s needs. In this context, work on a drinking water treatment plant for the Moselle will be accelerated.
