Self-consumption and electricity storage

The Government will give priority to decentralised electricity production and consumption in order to contribute to grid stability. State aid will continue to be channelled in such a way as to encourage self-consumption of the energy produced, whether at individual, collective or company level.

Luxembourg will also work towards the development of a smart grid, which will enable more efficient management of the electricity network on the basis of a real-time flow of information.

Under the new bill, financial support for facilities that do not consume their own electricity is to be reduced. But this does not yet constitute active promotion of self-consumption.
