The State’s pioneering role in sustainability

The government will make public administrations pioneers in the field of sustainability. In future, public buildings will have to be designed entirely according to the principles of the circular economy, so that they can be used as a materials depot and construction materials can be recycled or reused at a later date. Priority will be given to sustainable materials and to the installation of rainwater recovery systems, photovoltaic panels and the implementation of façade or roof greening measures, which should become the norm.

In addition, the Government will incorporate sustainability criteria that respect the environment and climate and promote the circular economy into public tenders, and will draw up model specifications for public bodies and institutions to this end.
