With a view to the judicious use of drinking water, the Government will promote the use of rainwater, particularly for watering plants and for sanitary installations. Rainwater harvesting systems will therefore become the norm for new residential buildings. Subsidies in this area will be adapted. In addition, the Government will analyse the extent to which the use of grey water can be encouraged in new buildings.
Finally, the Government will support the creation of retention basins and underground water reservoirs into which water can drain in the event of heavy rainfall, thus preventing flooding during the winter. These water reserves can then be used during periods of drought for irrigation purposes, for example.
