The network of economic and trade agreements, such as double taxation agreements, investment protection agreements and air services agreements, must be extended. Economic diplomacy must respect our values and high standards of sustainable development, social policy and governance, including human rights.
The Government will ensure that, when negotiating new trade agreements, European production standards are applied to food production. (Extract from the agriculture chapter)

Status of implementation/Meco commentary

The Luxembourg government has apparently abandoned its critical stance towards the Mercosur Agreement (an agreement between Europe and the South American states of Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay)). At present, the government is not advocating (at least not publicly) that existing controversial agreements be revised, e.g. with regard to arbitration tribunals.
